Our second day was very busy. We started by driving Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive down to Mexican border to check out (and bath in) the majestic Santa Elena Canyon and its surroundings. From there we started backtracking up to the mountains, having a good taste of Chihuahuan Desert on the way where we made several overlook stops and two good hikes (in 106F, over 40C, weather). With still some daylight ahead of us we decided to climb one more hike, back in the Chisos Mountains. We chose a track leading to the second highest peak, the Lost Mine Trail leading to Casa Grande (7325 ft, 2233 m).
