The ruins of Dívčí Kámen Castle (Maiden's Stone) is one of the largest (and to me most impressive) castle ruins in Bohemia. This typical example of Gothic castle architecture of Karel IV era was built in 1349 on the top of a rocky hill above Vltava River, initially a Bronze Age fortified community had its settlement here. The castle was vacated in 1506 and in 1540 was already claimed as abandoned. Since then it has been left in its natural state. This place was a great surprise of my canoe trip.
