Lake Tahoe, which has its 2/3 in California and 1/3 in Nevada, is the second deepest lake in the U.S. with a depth of 1,645 ft (501 m). At its longest and widest, it measures 22 miles (35 km) by 12 miles (19 km). The shoreline takes up 72 miles (116 km). The sun shines at Lake Tahoe for 75 % of the year. The surface water temperature varies from 41F to 68F (5C to 20C), bellow the depth of 600 ft (180 m) it remains constant 39F (4C). If you were to pour its volume, 39 trillion gallons, onto California, the water would be 14 inches (36 cm) deep. (These and many more facts were written on the ski lift support poles.)
